Learning numbers (Money Matters)
For the past few weeks, we have been learning how to exchange rates, ratios, tax rate and more.
However, the main one is good and services tax (GST).
The GST of Newzealand before 2010 was increased from %12.5 to %15.
The price of the item x 0.15 = Your GST
For instance.
113 x 0.15 = 16.95 is your GST.

Math _ finding the patterns
This week we are trying to find repeating patterns throught many problems. For instance we went outside and found many patterns. Today we made Hexahexa-flexagon and it has many patterns.

Restart.. Mathletics!
This week for maths we get to do mathletics that will eventually help people from other countries to get better education. Every 250,000 points in mathletics is 1 dollar that the Mathletics donate to the people in Africa. We had to complete a series of task including things that were not familiar. We eventually got this barricaded problems with the help of our teacher. We each earned a thousand points for the contribution.

Ms, McRae teachings
This week, we got to have a chance to be taught by a student teacher, it was hard to understand the instructions at first, however with the help of Ms McRae I understood what to do and what was the solution for the problem.
The first topic that we did was get the shortest amount of rectangles in a painted pixels. I learnt the most efficient way to get the least amount of squares to take out the most pixel boxes.

Finding the N-Case
How do you see the pattern growing? In our current math expedition, we are learning how to think about using an N-case except doing it manually. We spent minutes after figuring-out the N-case. It was hard but it was worth it. Our final outcome was N(N+1).

The main mathematical concepts or ideas that I learnt/discussed in class.
- To recognise the pattern building up in each questions.
Describe a mistake or misconception that you or a classmate had in class? What did you learn from this mistake or misconception?
One of our mistakes was explaining the N case to the front of the class, I didn't know the words to describe my work so I had to rely to my team. They also did not understand my work. I learnt that I have to plan a brief of explanation before going up.
A new term that I learnt was Σ - (Sigma sign)

Everyone can learn Math
Not everyone is born good at math but you can get yourself to be a good math,
By doing
- Practice
- Always do hard questions
- Train your brain
For the past few weeks we have been learning that you don't need to be fast at math you can be slow and deep. We also learnt that, you can think of differents ways to answer a question. What I enjoyed about math is how its training my brain, and I really like the hard questions so I can find a lot of ways to get to the answer.

DLO "Probability"
Walt: Before the probability of an event can be worked out, all of the possible outcomes needed to be known.
Example: Kasha went to dinner with her family
- She had to choose a main course and a dessert.
- Main -
Example: Kasha went to dinner with her family

- Main -
- Spicy Chicken (S)
- Beef burger (B)
- Vegetarian (V)
- Desserts -
- Ice cream Sundae (I)
- Apple crumble (A)
Now I just need to figure out the possibilities, I organize them in three seperaate ways.

SI, SA,
BI, BA,
VI, VA,

Probablity
You wanna know how to understand probability in math?! Here's an example "Maya and Kai was thinking of what is the probability of getting picked to be a singer at the musical performances and they always practice in there own time. So what's the probability of getting picked? they will be most likely getting picked because they had practice and its not certain because there are other competitors.
Maya and Kai thought that the trials might be canceled because of an earthquake. There's an even chance of an earthquake happening because people can't inspect when it's gotta happen unlike the weather.
So that's an example of probability, I hope you learnt something!

Is a million stack of 20$ bills higher than the rim of a basketball?
Yes it is. You wanna know how I know it?
First of all I needed to find out how thick is a 20$ bill and its .0043 then I need to divide a million by 20 and its 50.000. After that I needed to times 50000 by .0043 and that's 215. A regular basketball rim is 10 feet tall and that in inches is 120. So that's how I found out how is a million stack of 20$ bill is higher than the rim of a basketball.

DLO = Solving fractions
3/4 of 15 = 11 1/4
Are you wondering how I solved this question? This is question is about fraction solving and I"ll teach you how to solve this question. First thing you do is, 3/4 you times the numerator by the number and that equivalent to 45. Now you have 45/4 and it is an improper fraction. Now, you need to divide 45 by the dominator so its 11 and there's an extra one so, you put it up on top of 4 and the answer will be 11 1/4.

Fraction, Decimals and Percentages = P2
1/4 = 0.25 = 25%
Are you wondering how I solve this problem? I'm going to explain how I solve this math problem. First thing you do is make the dominator to a hundred and whatever you do at dominator to do it at nominator. So 4 x 25 is equivalent to 100 so 1 x 25 is 25 and the answer is 25/100. Now you need the nominator a hundred is 1.0 so it's 0.25 and the percentage is 25% percent!
