How did you set up your microscope and microscope slide?

- Microscope - We gently carry the microscope to our station. We didn't have any light source but we had a mirror so, we had to get a light box to be our light source. Then after that we turn it on and turn the light directly to the mirror.
- Microscope slide - We place our specimen in the middle of a clean slide. We ensured the our specimen is laying flat and not folded over on itself. We added 2 to 3 drops of the stain solution. Plant cells are commonly stained with iodine, whereas animal cells are commonly stained with methylene blue. Both of these solution will stain the nucleus. We gently put the coverslip on a 45 angle and slowly putting it down.

What did you observe down the microscope/something that was discovered by a microscope.

A Dutch father-son team named Hans and Zacharias Janssen invented the first so-called compound microscope in the late 16th century when they discovered that, if they put a lens at the top and bottom of a tube and looked through it, objects on the other end became magnified.

Plant cell
- The cells that we saw was a rectangular shape as the teacher say it was.
- Underneath the microscope we saw the Nucleus, Large Vacuole, and etc.

Animal Cell
- Our microscope didn't have enough magnification so, we only saw the part of a leg Moth.

What are key similarities and differences between plant and animal cells.

  • Both animal and plant cell has a cell membrane, cytoplasm, nucleus, and a mitochondria.

Similarity
- Cell Membrane
- Cytoplasm
- Nucleus
- Mitochondria
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

  • A plant cell has extra organelles - including,  large vacuole, cell wall, and chloroplast.
Difference
- Large Vacoule
- Cell wall
- Chloroplast

Friendship - "Charlotte's Web"

Friendship

Friendship - The word friendship means to me is about a strong bond between people.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Have you ever wondered what friendship is like? If so, I have a story for you. Once upon a time there was a pig who was thought to be killed for food at the end, but he escaped his fate with a little help from his tiny friend.

The story begins when A farmer bought a pig from a farm. As soon as he got settled into an enclosure, the goats started talking about how the pig would die when the cold winter nights arrive. The small pig got worried but a little voice was heard from somewhere. It was a tiny spider hanging up from the top corner of the door. The tiny spider says “ don’t worry I’ll be your friend and I’ll come up with a plan to save you”

Over night, the little spider did something to her web, something special. When the sun started to show up and the worker fed the pig. The worker saw the word “Some pig” written on the spider’s web, the spider’s brilliant plan worked!

The spider knew that her time was close, but she still tried to help her humble friend.

The fair started, another miracle happened in the pig’s pen, the word “Humble” appeared on the web. This miracle drawn a crowd to the pig’s pen. The judges realised that the pig needed a special award for this miracle.

After the awarding, the tiny spider started to fade away, leaving her egg sac behind. The pig saw what was happening and he carried the egg with him to keep it safe. It was the only thing  that he could do for his irreplaceable friend.

I could relate myself to this story. One time I made a big mistake that could ruin my whole life and my intimate friend, took the blame. I will always remember what he did done for me.
