Group Performance - "The beginning of a Band"

Which song have you chosen to work on and why?

We have chosen the song "Smoke on the water"

- The reason behind this because everyone could play it and it incorporates all of our instruments.

What is this song about?

- It is about the Montreux Casino that burnt down in 1971.

What will you start working on first?

We are trying to practice each of our part and after that we are going to link each other instrument together.

What is going to be challenging about this task?

It is base on how loud each instrument are.

The after effect of "Acid Rain"

Observing the effects of Acid Rain.

Equipment:
- Little chunk of apple
- Baby Flower
- 3 drops of universe indicator
- 3 drops of bromothymol blue
- A scoop of calcium carbonate
- A scoop of sodium sulfide + water drops
- Weigh boat
- Petri dish
- Stir
- 5 drops of acid

Method:
1. Moist the following things: Baby flower, Calcium carbonate, and the chunk of apple.

2. The weigh boat should be in the middle of the petri dish. Put the chunk of apple, the baby flower, 3 drops of universe indicator and the 3 drops of bromothymol blue on the petri dish, calcium carbonate, and make sure that each one of them does not touch one another and put it around the weigh boat.

3. Get the sodium sulfide and put it on the weigh boat and put 2-3 drops of water on it, after that mixed it in with the sodium sulfide. After that stir it.

4. Lastly you quickly put 5 drops of acid in the weigh boat, and quickly close the petri dish with a cover. Observe what happens to the five things that surrounds the weigh boat.

Results:
The chunk of apple hardened, and also the baby flower. The universal indicator went to red from green and the bromothymol blue went from blue to green. The calcium carbonate was more crusty after the acid rain.

Discussion:
After the acid, the plants that it rains to becomes hardened and the concrete becomes more crusty.

Conservation Week

Have you ever wondered, how you can help the New Zealand’s native plants and animals? Join Conservation week, Conservation week is an event that occurs once a year. This event is all about the protection and saving all of the plants and animals that can only be found in New Zealand. For example Kea is one of the famous native bird and highly protected from danger, a lot of other companies have already started a breeding program. 

I truly think this is important because there are rare and very endemic to New Zealand. Also these plants and animals has been around this country longer than we have. For instance Kiwi is the national animal for this country and needs to be protected and one of its kinds is endangered.  You could help the Kiwi by donating to companies that have started a breeding program, if you don't have this kind of money you could help by cleaning up their habitat. So we should protect the native kinds to payback what they have given to us from the beginning.

"My first solo performance" (After the battle of confidence).

What instrument did you play and why?
- I have played the instrument called the Piano.
- The reason for this is, if I would chose the path of music my expertise will be on playing the piano.

Which song did you chose to play and why?
- I have chosen the song called "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran.
- This was my first song that I practiced on a piano.

Were you happy with you performance? Explain.
- Yes, because I have done my best and also I have done a good job.

If you had to do it again, what would you change?
- I would do it in a keyboard instead.

Gymnastics

Last week, we began our gymnastic session. We had to pick a challenge to do and see what we did good and what we could improve on. I have picked the horizontal bar and I have done, one of the challenge that was on the sheet.

What I did well?
- I did the beginning good .
- I have done the challenge.

What I have to improve on.
- Not to stop in midway.
- Get speed.
- Be more confidence when doing it.

W.T.E Sentences

WALT: Write W.T.E sentences to improve our writing.

The simple sentences - Begins with the subject of the sentence.
(For example)
- Rizal is the most respected person in the Philippines

Very short sentences - One of the most powerful sentence styles ever developed. Immediately grabs your attention. The rule for this style is: fve words or fewer.
(For example)
- Rizal fought bravely.

The power sentence - If you need waffle a bit, try the power sentence. Begin your paragraph with a power sentence of 12 words or fewer. Get straight to the point.
(For example)
- Rizal's legacy was something for filipinos to remember.

Red, White, and Blue - When you have several ideas to convey about the topic.
(For example)
- The Philippine wars are mostly comes from the reason of conquering lands, independence and for people rights.

The adverb start - Start a sentence with an adverb, it adds interest and intrigue.
                              - Remember if you start with an adverb always have a comma after it.
(For example)
- Surprisingly, Only about 12,000 thousand people died in the war of independence.

Begin with a preposition - Try starting with a preposition. Prepositions are little words indicating movement or position.

(For example)
- In 1946, The Philippines was granted a full independence for their country.

The -ing start - Try starting a sentence with the -ing form of a verb. The rule: when you have finished your -ing phrase, place a comma, then write the rest of the sentence.

(For example)
- Wanting to see the peace restored, Jose Rizal formed a revolutionary against the early government..

The -Ed start - Try starting a sentence with the -ed form of a verb. It makes for a punchy opening to the sentence.

(For example)
- Persistent to claim the peace back, Andres Bonifacio carried Jose Rizal's legend.

The semi-colon - When you have two independent clauses (two mini-sentences) joined by a conjunction and replace it with a semi-colon.

(For example)
- Jose Rizal's entry to the story was heroic: His death was far too soon.

The em-dash - The em-dash in English is the long dash. Use the long dash to drop a phase in a sentence that is at complete odds with the flow of the sentence --way out there-but which adds colour and interest.

(For example)
- The Revolutionary army --secretly clever-- was the ones who drew a crowd to the governor's place.

The W-Start sentence - Try beginning a sentence with a W-word. Here are some:who, while, when,where,what,whereas. The W-start makes writing sound thoughtful and knowledgeable.

(For example)
- When the war was over, the battlefield looked horrifying.

Explore the subject - Accomplished writers use this sentence style. The rule:begin your sentence with the subject then place a comma. Say something interesting about the subject. Place another comma. Then, finish your sentence.

(For example)
- Muskets, long-barreled and powerful, were used by the Revolutionary army to fend off the Spanish religion.
