Capacity maths

Today for Maths we are doing new things for Maths. We are learning about capacity. We have a problem to solve.

Marama is planning her birthday party.

She is inviting 11 friends so there will be 12 people. How many 1.5L soft drink bottles will be she need if they have one drink each?
cup =180 ml
bottle =1.5 l
The answer is: 8 1/2 cups

I was learnt a lot of things from. I learn about the capacity, like we need to measure first the cups to solve or guessing. We had a measuring cup but my teacher brought two measuring cups but one are there is wrong because one of them are new Zealand measuring cup and the other one is Australia measure cup and it was really 180 ml in one cup.

cups 180 ml x 8 = (8 x 100) + (8 x 80)
=800 +640 = 1440
bottle 1.5 =1500
60 ml 1/3
The real answer is 8 1/3 cups
