The end of Critical Literacy =(

Group work- Critical text analysis
Texts(s): Sia (Big Girls Cry)
Topic:Critical literacy -
How did your group focus the analysis? (Which aspect did you select to critically examine?)
  • Inclusion
  • Exclusion
  • Representation
  • Multiple readings
Which critical literacy questions did your group select to analyse the text(s)?
Who is missing in the text?
  • People in their old age.
How are adults constructed in this text?
  • Needing help
  • Aggressive
  • Irresponsible
  • Not showing empathy
  • Needs bonding
In whose interest is the text?
  • It is meant for couples on how to solve or avoid their future problems.
Why is the text written this way?
  • Many kids will feel depressed when their parents start tearing apart.
Why did your group select those questions?
It is related to the picture of young adults today. To show the text’s main intentions.
What did your group conclude from the critical analysis? (So what?)
I think this video showed me the importance of responsibility in life.

I am currently learning how to identify the text/video in details by using the Critical Literacy   Questions (CLQ).
I used four of the CLQ to show my better understandings of the music video called   (Big Girls Cry) by   Sia.
I wondered many views of point on how to answer each questions and relate it   to the situations in life.
