Corrosion 1:
Aim: To investigate the factors that cause rusting in an iron nail.
Equipment: Four test tubes, test tube rack, a bung, four iron nails, boiled water, tap water, salty water, cooking oil, calcium chloride.
Method:
1. Label each test tubes from A - D.
2. Test tube contents:
A = Iron nail and tap water
B = Iron nail and salty water.
C = Iron nail, boiled water, oil,
D = Iron nail and calcium. Sealed with a bung.
3. Leave the test tube undisturbed for at least three days.
Observations: Most of the Iron nails that was set up corroded along with the specific elements that was inside with the iron nail. Exceptional, The boiled water with oil on top didn't rust since it wasn't expose at oxygen. and the iron nail within the calcium chloride gets rid of any oxygen/moist.
Conclusion:
Rusting needs oxygen/water to happen. It also speeds up with salt water. By coating it, it is preventing the iron nail from rusting.

Corrosion 2:
Aim: To investigate a number of techniques that might prevent rusting.
Equipment: Four test tube, test tube rack, a bung, four iron nails, tap water, vaseling gel, nail polish, zinc pellets or magnesium ribbon.
Method:
1. Label each of the test tubes from A - D.
2. Fill all test tubes with equl amount of water - enough to cover the nails.
3. Test tube contents:
A = Iron nail
B = Iron nail covered inVaseline.
C = Iron nail painted with nail polish.
D = Iron nail with a small piece of magnesium ribbon wrapped around it.
Observations: Most of the iron nails was prevented because it didn't have any contacts of any environmental elements. Except for the plain nail that was soaked in water.
Conclusion:
An iron nail will corrode if it comes into contact with the environment. Corrosion also occurs quickers if salt or water are present. Corrosion of iron can be prevented by creating a barrier between the iron and the environtment. This can be achieved by coating the iron in plastic, grease, or paint. Iron can also be coated is more reactive metals such as Zinc. Iron or steel snail coated withh zinc are called galvanise nails.
