This past two weeks I manage to read the end of the book so I decided to answer and blog it all at the same time. This is the results:
Ch 17:
- Why does Ellie feel uncomfortable with Chris bringing cigarettes and alcohol into Hell? P.221 It made her reflect on what she has been thinking over the past few nights.
- What happened to the soldiers involved in the lawnmower incident, according to Robyn? How does this make Ellie feel? P.224 According to Robyn, two of them died and 1 was severely injured.
- What is meant by a “clean war”? Why are the invaders so intent on having a ‘clean war’? P224-225 Clean war - Having no casualties such us killing the people/raping and other stuff. The invaders intent was not to let the neighbouring countries (especially America) join in because of that.
- Why do you think prisoners are sent to clean up the houses around town? They are going populate the country with their own people.
Ch 19:
- What makes Ellie think the soldiers walking past them are professionals? P.244-245 They acted as they were professionals. For instance, they ducked down before they shot and made sure it wasn’t very dangerous before shooting.
- What are some clues that the group is starting to think ‘more like soldiers’? Most of them are prodigy thinking ways to get out of a bad situation and calming each other down when critical situation is happening. The quick thinking made them more of a soldier like characters.
Ch 20:
- Why is Ellie nervous about being paired with Fi? P.255-256 Were her concerns about Fi realised? Explain. She was nervous because she likes Homer too. And No, Fi responded as Ellie were very hooked to Lee.
- What is true courage according to Ellie? Doing something very dangerous for your love ones.P. 256
- What problems do Fi and Ellie encounter on their mission to bring the tanker to the appropriate place under the bridge? How do they deal with these problems.
The fence cut was not big enough - They cut more.
The tank was ringing - they manage to turn it off
Some enemy troops came and inspect - they climbed a tree to be not noticed.
Ch.21:
- How do Ellie and Fi feel as they are leaving the scene on their motorbikes? Reliefed/happy by escaping a near death situation. Are these realistic feelings? Yes, because many people wouldn’t do the same thing. Their act of courage change their life.P.273
- Why do you think the group decided to blow up the bridge? The bridge connects the bay and the other cities by blowing it up there are no other land transport.
- How is this exploit different from the other exploits the group has been on e.g visiting the showgrounds and rescuing Lee? THis is different since they had a well-thought plan that can cause something in the long term. Another reason why this is different is because this is something big, it includes more courage knowing you have to kill someone.
Ch.22
- How does Kevins decision to go with Corrie change our perspective of him from Chapter 3/7 P280-281 He is now a good friend with a sacrificial heart and a loving, brave friend.
Epilogue:
- What is Ellie’s concern about her story? She hopes that they will survive and she not becoming like Hermit.P.283-284
- What do you think will happen to Corrie and Kevin? In Homer’s theory, the enemy is doing a clean invasion meaning that Corrie and Kevin would mostly be safe.
